HMO Objective ? To Improve Visual Appearance of ?The Bungalows?
The Bungalows ? scheme to prevent verge damage and parking issues:
The Housing Section and Engineers Section are meeting to determine practical ways of overcoming the long standing issue of verge damage in the area.
Proposals include: groundwork being carried out on the corners, together with a planting scheme that will deter ?cutting corners? and churning up the grass ? that leaves the area looking unsightly and messy.
Residents are also having problems with access to their own properties and garages. One sign has been erected and resolved the issue for an oap and further signs will be erected in the near future to eliminate other problems.
Work is also being arranged to prevent the ?ponding? on the entrance road and flooding at the side of No1. DCC and NEDDC are working as a joint effort in this issue.
Grit Bin:
A request for a grit bin was requested but met many obstacles from DCC, NEDDC and Killamarsh Parish Council. All failed to acknowledge responsibility for the installation of one and its upkeep. A petition was signed but it all looked in vain.
After further persistence by residents gained an authorisation from Derek Ferguson to order a bin on 25.01.2007 and it was ordered the same day.
The location of the bin is to be discussed with Tenant Representative, Mrs Groom for her opinion on the matter.
Estate Tour:
The Estate Tour, carried out on 10 January 2007, saw the accompaniment of one resident who identified a number of issues in the area. Photographs were provided of vehicles parked on the grass and some stuck in the mud.
Further to this he reported young people gathering in and around cars on Quarry Road (behind a number of the bungalows) who on occasion played loud music, used foul language and allegedly performed acts of a sexual nature.
Two representatives of Derbyshire Constabulary, who accompanied us on the tour, assured him that regular beats of the area were carried out and cars had been moved on in the past.
The officers did state that they would continue to patrol the area and that any activity of this kind should always be reported to the police - If an officer was available, or in the vicinity, at the time of the call they would investigate the matter thoroughly.
Fencing Off of Individual Properties:
The HMO raised orders to fence off several gardens that had been subjected to people cutting across the garden and damaging shrubs etc.
This was later rejected by Construction Services for not meeting the criteria for the installation of fencing ? this is currently being addressed internally by Housing and Construction Services.
