Having received the latest edition of News from NE Derbyshire District Council perhaps thats something that could save a few bob. Its always been a propoganda sheet regardless of which party has control of the council, pictures of smiling councillors opening some new initiative or other. Two pages worth of photos and contacts of all the local councillors - I dont think they change every year so why is that included in every edition?
Most of the stuff wouldnt make the inside of the Leader, all very positive stuff about NEDDC being the best recyling area in Derbyshire - but 113th in the country, out of how many? Postive spin always works but its still spin.
Though there was an interesting page on all the councillors expenses - nice to see that one of our local councillors has the highest travelling expenses in NEDDC - a sum over £1,000 - must be expensive getting to Chesterfield from Killamarsh - I always thought public transport was the required form of travel. Perhaps we should only have councillors over the age of 65 then they could use the free bus pass and save us some money.
4 other pages were dedicated to what facilities are available at Dronfield, Clay Cross and another sports/leisure centre (considering we will be paying for those in our council rate) a shame they dint include details of the Killamarsh Leisure Centre.
